Lori Maramante, EdD, is the founder of PANS Coach, where she provides coaching, navigation, education, and support to families navigating PANS/PANDAS associated with Lyme disease, Bartonella, Babesia, and other infection-triggered illnesses.
Families come to PANS Coach from many different paths. Lori’s own journey — as a parent, caregiver, patient, and scientist — deeply informs how she supports families facing complex neuroimmune illness.
Lori brings a rare combination of scientific expertise and lived experience. She is a veteran PANS parent whose child has healed, a long-time caregiver to family members and friends with tick-borne illness, and a former patient herself, having experienced tick-borne disease and autoimmune encephalitis — an illness that derailed the completion of her PhD in Biological Oceanography just as she was nearing the finish line. She is also the parent of a neurodivergent child who has navigated Lyme disease and Bartonella, giving her additional perspective on supporting families managing complex, overlapping medical and neurological challenges. Together, these experiences give her deep empathy for families facing sudden, frightening changes in their children and the long, uncertain road to recovery.
Her academic background includes advanced training in biological sciences, a master’s degree in Marine Biology from UCLA, and a doctorate in science education from the University of Delaware. For over two decades, Lori taught biology and biotechnology at the college level, specializing in helping people understand and apply complex scientific information — a foundation that directly informs her work with families today.
Lori also completed professional training in Lifestyle and Wellness Coaching through Harvard Medical School Extension Education, which informs her structured, ethical, and client-centered coaching approach. As a member of the Alliance of Professional Health Advocates, she has formally committed to the Health Advocate’s Code of Conduct and Professional Standards.
She has presented research on tick-borne pathogens, serves as Vice Chair of Delaware’s Lyme Disease Education Oversight Board, and actively follows emerging research on infection-driven neuroinflammation and immune-mediated illness. Since 2009, she has also served on the board of the International History, Philosophy, and Science Teaching Group, the professional association for the peer-reviewed journal Science & Education.
Through PANS Coach, Lori supports families with integrity, clarity, and compassion — helping parents feel less alone, more informed, and better equipped to advocate for their children.
